How do I change the fund I'm invested in for my workplace pension?
Updated 07 August 2023
You can change what you’re invested in, also known as ‘switching’, at any time.
You can:
- switch all or part of your existing fund into a new investment(s), or
- re-direct all future contributions into a different investment choice
Please be aware that funds have different objectives, charges and risk levels that you need to consider before making a decision to switch. Please make sure you read the fund factsheet for the fund or funds you wish to switch into so you’re able to make an informed decision.
The value of investments can fall as well as rise, and isn’t guaranteed. You could get back less than has been paid in.
If you need advice as to whether a fund is suitable for you, please speak to a financial adviser. If you don’t have one, you can find one in your area at MoneyHelper.
- If you’re not already signed in, sign into your Retiready account.
- Go to the Savings tab.
- Choose the product you want to change your investment(s) for, from the list on the left hand side.
- Select Switch or Manage Investments.
- Before you begin your switch request – Gating defines your level of access. You can choose which gate you would like before you begin your switch request. Information on choosing a gate is provided within the online journey.
- Select the fund research button for more information on the funds available to you.
- Once you’re ready to make your switch request, select the sell funds button.
- Sell funds – You now need to select the investment (assets) you want to switch out of (sell):
- You can choose to switch all or part of your existing fund;
- switch your investments based on either percentage or monetary amount; or
- switch your investments for your future contributions.
- Choose funds – Next you’ll need to choose where you want to invest (buy).
- Select the fund research button for more information on the funds available to you.
- Select the choose funds button. You can use this search facility to pick the investment funds you want to switch in to.
- Once you have decided which funds you want to switch into, select the +add fund button for each fund.
- You should also tell us the split of how to invest these. For example, if you select two investment funds 50% in each – make sure your total fund split adds up to 100%.
- You can then choose to use this new selection of funds for your future contributions or remain in the existing funds you have selected for this.
- Confirm – Review the summary and declarations. If you're happy to proceed, select the Submit button.
- Success – Once your switch is complete, confirmation will be added to your document library.
