Don't lose track of your pensions
Updated 08 August 2017
Very few people these days will work for the same company throughout their working life. As people move from company to company, they may leave small pension pots behind.
Over time, it can be difficult to track down past pensions. Equally, as people move house the data held by past pensions schemes could become out of date.
There’s an estimated £400 million* sitting in lost pension pots. So, if you think you’ve had a pension in the past, but can’t remember the details, don’t worry, it’s a more common problem than you think. A recent survey** suggests that 21% of people who have more than one pension don’t know where some or all of their pension pots are.
The good news is the Pension Tracing Service can help. It has details of a large number of pension schemes and can help people trace previous pensions. What’s more, it’s completely free of charge.
If you can’t find the current contact details of the pension scheme you’re looking for, contact the Pension Tracing Service and find out if they can help you.
