If I change my mind, can I get a refund?
Updated 25 July 2019
Yes. You have 30 days to cancel starting from the day you receive the documents with your contract details. We’ll normally treat the documents as having been received by you after we’ve added your confirmation of investment contract note to your document library. If you want to cancel please email us.
If you tell us you want to cancel, we’ll return your money to the person who made the payment. We'll also close your online account, and you'll no longer be able to log in to Retiready.
Regular and single payments
Only the first contribution you make to your Retiready Pension will have cancellation rights, whether it’s a regular or single contribution. If you decide to increase your regular contribution, you won’t be able to cancel this. But you can stop or reduce the amount of your contribution at any time. You don’t have the right to cancel any additional single contributions you choose to make.
Opt-out rights for pensions through employers
If you're automatically enrolled into your SIPP or choose to opt in, you'll have one month to opt out - this replaces your cancellation rights. You'll be told about your opt-out period by your employer. If you're an 'entitled worker' and decide to join, you still have the right to cancel your SIPP and won't have the right to opt out.
Transfers
Any transfers you make from other pension schemes can be cancelled separately. However, your previous provider doesn’t have to take the money back and they might charge you to do so.
If your transfer is from an existing Aegon plan we’ll re-open your previous pension plan if your cancellation is within the 30-day period.
You might get back less than you invested if your investment value has fallen before we received your cancellation request.
We can’t repay more than your original investment.
